We now offer Horsebox self drive hire in our Equi-Trek Sonic for daily hire, weekend daily hire and long weekend hire. We also offer local horse transport within a radias of 1.5 hours of Shepperton Surrey.

The horsebox is fully insured, serviced and very well maintained.

Hire Rates
Weekday Monday to Friday – £90 per day

Weekend Saturady, Sunday or bank holdiays – £95 per day

Weekend 2 day hire – £180

Half Day hire am or pm (Mon to Fri only) – £70

Horsebox Terms & Conditions of hire and Insurance

A deposit of £50 is required to confirm your booking. This is to secure your chosen date/s.

If you wish to cancel your booking, we require 7 days notice otherwise your deposit will not be refunded. Cancellations are subject to a £5.00 banking charge.

The hire charge can be paid by bank transfer, debit / credit card

We offer evening before collection where possible for just £10
Please consider that we can not guarantee a time if the vehicle is out on hire as delays can happen. If you need to be sure of availability we recommend you book a half day PM hire for the day before you planned collection. This is at an additional cost see our price list.

All horses must be insured for transportation. SurreyHire / SurreyHorsebox4Hire take no responsibility for any injury caused to your horse whilst in or tied to the horsebox.

Horse Passport
Your horse’s Passport must be present while travelling.
This is a legal requirement.

Mileage Limits / Allowance
Mileage limits apply. A full day hire entitles you to an allowance of 200 miles. A half day hire entitles you to 100 miles. If you need to exceed this a 0.50p per mile extra mileage charge will be applied.

The horsebox mileage is noted on the contract at the start of hire period. Any mileage over your allowance will be deducted from your deposit.

Vehicle Payload
Our horsebox has an excellent payload of 1,080kg. This is one of the highest for this class of horsebox (up to 3,500kg). They can carry 2 passengers along with the driver. As well as a limited amount of tack and other equipment. It is your responsibility to ensure the horsebox is not overloaded.

The fuel level will be recorded on the contract and needs to be returned at the same level. Returning the horsebox below this level will result in a re-fuel charge of £10 plus the actual cost of fuel to remedy the shortfall.

Before each hire period we will have cleaned and disinfected the horsebox. Please return the horsebox in the same condition as at the start of your hire. It should be clean in the horse area including the walls of the vehicle, tack area and cab. If it is returned otherwise a £40 cleaning fee will apply.

Damage Insurance Waiver Deposit.
This is arranged at least 24 hours before your collection date.
Please see the amounts below. This is either billed or pre-authed against your debit or credit card. It can also be paid by bank transfer. We will return this to you when the vehicle is returned undamaged and clean. As at the start of your hire.

23 to 24 year olds = £500
25 to 75 year olds = £250

Total Liability
You, the hirer accept liability in the event of an accident or for any damage to the vehicle inside and outside however the damage may occur up to the total limit of your liability as follows.
These figures include the Damage Insurance Waiver Deposit amount held.

23 to 24 year olds = £1,000
25 to 75 year olds = £800

Please ensure funds are available should damage occur. We will pursue you for collection of any costs not covered by the funds held. Legal action will be taken against you should it be necessary.

Please note, you the driver / hirer are also responsible for any damage caused by any person, pet or horse you are carrying on board, even if you do not own it. Please ensure when sharing a hire that you understand this risk.

If serious damage occurs and we are forced to cancel on-going bookings due to an immediate repair being required, you will be charged £50 per cancellation to cover lost business.

Taking Care When Driving
We recommend taking your time and being extra cautious whilst driving our horsebox to avoid damage and costly repair bills.

At collection, during the handover there will be an opportunity to inspect the vehicle for any existing damage and we encourage you to ask questions and take pictures for your peace of mind.

We will securely store your information and only use it for the purpose of contacting you in relation to your enquiry.

General Terms

To hire our horsebox

All drivers must be aged between 23-75 years old, have held their full UK manual driving licence for 2 years or more and have no more than 6 speed related points on their licence. If you fall outside of these do get in touch as we may still be able to help you.

Also you must

– Have not had insurance refused or declined.

– Have not had an insurance policy cancelled.

– Have not had any non-motoring convictions.

– Have not had more than one at fault accident in the last 3 years

– We cannot insure students, journalists and professional sports persons.

– No other persons are permitted to drive the horsebox during your hire period unless additional paperwork is completed.

To hire from us we require you to:

Go to the Gov.uk website linked below and complete the online driving licence check. When complete you need to send us the ‘check code’ along with your driving licence number.
We need this 7 days before you booking or asap if less than 7 days.


(Driving licence number, national insurance number and postcode are required to complete)

All drivers must come to collection and bring their full UK driving licence and 3 proofs of address. These must match the corresponding driving licence and be less than 3 months old. They can be utility bills (not mobiles), council tax notices, bank or credit card statements. We are required to take pictures or retain copies for our records.
